Drove to Portland in driving rain. Even worse at the ferry terminal. A regular Nor'aster. could be some waves out there. Some delay in boarding. We went right to our cabin and went to work on the Lobster rolls I made. Toasted the start of our vacation. We retired last night around 10:30 p.m..
The Dramamine my mom had bought for us resulted in an uneventful and much earlier bedtime...and we only split one dose of this new "less drowsy" formula. Leaving Portland and Casco Bay we glimpsed outside our porthole: we could see mountains of whitecaps...no stargazing from the deck tonight! The rocking and rolling of the ship coaxed us into slumber...
As we pay for our tea and juice an announcement of our arrival delay is made. Somewhere between 6:30 and 7:45 we lost four hours of travel time! I would have appreciated more sleep-in time . We thought we could avoid all the things we disliked about the Scotia Prince by bringing our own dinner, planning on breakfast in Yarmouth, sleeping in a bit. Alas the Prince wins again. Captive'til 12.
We retreat to our cabins after some wave watching at the Bow. Decide to get a little web-work done early.... I fight the urge to nap and Dave runs down the battery on the laptop. We attempt to use the electric outlet from the washroom but it does not seem to work... More Prince foils! We tried... we curl up under the covers for a mid-morning snooze.
We'll skip the Scenic Lighthouse Route(after a quick picture of the (late) returning ferry from Sand Beach. Going to Halifax to try to hook up with *Paul.
Dave driving, me writing on the laptop. As soon as I' done with this I'll get to work on email... I even have some business to tend to. If Dave is going to get me to cooperate with this cockpit -laptop scheme he's got to call "heads up" whenever we approach a good sight. Did I mention Dave and his Dad installed an AC converter in the dash console of the car? Did not get a cell phone this trip, I'm kind of glad I'd soon be out of space here!
